INTERNATIONAL SECURITY PLATFORM (3D Secure) The
3D Secure protocol developed by VISA has also been accepted by Mastercard, it has been introduced as an application requirement and has been opened by Garanti Bank under the name of National Security Platform (3D Secure).
The International Security Platform is not a payment confirmation method or a technological platform, it is a model that regulates the responsibilities of the parties (business-bank-card holder) in the payment process.
International Security Platform is the most advanced system developed by Visa to increase the security of virtual shopping transactions. The application prepared for the use of Visa credit cards of the system is called "Verified by Visa" and the application prepared for the use of MasterCard credit cards is called "SecureCode".
According to the system, during the virtual payment process, the bank is asked for the payment password by the bank, thereby authenticating the cardholder. In this way, the use of credit cards on the internet is prevented by unauthorized people.

With the International Security Platform (UGP), the 3D Secure standard will become a standard in online shopping worldwide. At this point, it is very important to know the changing functioning for both cardholders and businesses.
Click to watch how UGP works.
In terms of card holders:
1. Banks that give credit cards register their credit cards at UGP (3D Secure) Visa / Mastercard. However, this is not mandatory: some banks prefer to save only some types of cards, while others do not.
2.Credit Card holders (if the bank has granted UGP (3D Secure) authorization to the card type in question) they save the card they wish in the UGP (3D Secure) program as stipulated by the bank. All credit cards of Garanti Bank are recorded in the system.
In terms of:
workplaces1. Workplace banks register their workplaces with Visa / Mastercard.
2. Workplace banks register their workplaces in the UGP (3D Secure) program as they choose themselves. You can use the links below for the Garanti Bank Application Procedure.
3. Workplace banks distribute "Merchant Plug-In" (MPI) software to their businesses so that they can switch to and use this system on their websites. These MPIs are applications that enable businesses to make their UGP (3D Secure) approvals.
4. Workplaces install these MPIs on their site and enter their own account information.
General UGP (3D Secure functioning)
1. The cardholder completes the checkout process on the site of the establishment.
2. The card owner enters the credit card number, expiration date and cvv information on the payment form.
3. The workplace directs the card information to the UGP (3D Secure) application.
4. If the card number in question is included in the 3D Secure system (registered by the bank in this system and activated by the card owner), continue from step 6.
If the card does not support 3D Secure in some way, it is returned to the workplace as in step 9 and the process is finished.
6. UGP (3D Secure) verification screen opens to the cardholder.
7. The verification mechanism envisaged by the card owner bank is activated.
8.UGP (3D Secure) combines the information received from the MPI card holder with the UGP (3D Secure) account information of the business and sends all the data to the cardholder bank.
9. The cardholder sends the bank response to the UGP (3D Secure) MPI.
10. The Office sends the transaction to Garanti Virtual POS according to the outcome of the UGP (3D Secure) transaction.
